Regenerative periodontology is a relatively new field in the treatment of periodontal tissues, aimed at accelerating their regeneration (restoration) and improving the prognosis of tooth preservation in periodontitis.

What is regenerative periodontology?
This is a relatively new approach to periodontitis therapy, which harmoniously complements the generally accepted concept. Thus, the classical treatment of gums and periodontal tissues is aimed at eliminating infection, stopping or slowing gum recession and bone atrophy. All this as a result should protect the teeth from loosening and loss.
In practice, traditional conservative and surgical treatment of the gums and periodontal tissues, although leading to tangible positive results, is not without drawbacks. In advanced cases, for example, residual periodontal pockets may persist, or surgical treatment only increases soft tissue recession. This leaves the risk of further progression of periodontal disease and tooth loss. In addition, the already infected tissue must necessarily be removed, and the affected areas remain visible and often have a negative impact on the aesthetics of the smile.
Regenerative periodontology aims to eliminate these flaws in traditional periodontal treatment. It aims to restore the periodontal tissues, including the formation of new tissue structures that form the gingiva, periodontium and alveolar bone.
Regenerative periodontology already includes a fairly extensive set of techniques, namely:
- the use of biomaterials that activate and accelerate periodontal tissue repair;
- the use of bone grafts and other bone substitutes, including membranes, etc;
- demineralization of tooth root surfaces, etc.
Hyaluronic acid for periodontal tissue regeneration
The methods of regenerative periodontology for the treatment of gums and other peri-dental tissues are being actively developed. The clinical trials of these techniques show a high level of effectiveness, allowing our specialists to incorporate them into their practice.
For example, the DENTART periodontist uses tried-and-tested regenerative techniques in addition to the classic periodontitis treatment methods. These include the use of hyaluronic acid in the framework of conservative therapy in order to accelerate the regeneration of periodontal tissues.
