Prevention of caries of baby teeth
Prevention of children's dental diseases helps to protect them from caries and other dental problems, which, in both children and adults, are much better (easier, faster, cheaper) to prevent than to treat. Preventive measures will preserve a healthy smile and help to make a visit to a children's dentist not something scary and stressful, but a comfortable and even very pleasant process, accompanied by cartoons.

Is prevention of children's teeth necessary at all?
There is a stereotype that you don't need to take special care of baby teeth - they are temporary anyway and will fall out sooner or later. In fact, these teeth are often even more susceptible to caries and other diseases, and their premature loss can cause bite or diction defects, disrupt the aesthetics of a smile and become the cause of ridicule by peers, and harm the rudiments of permanent teeth.
Prevention of caries in children is also important because the defence systems of an immature body do not work as effectively, and the enamel is quite thin and not that strong. As a result, carious lesions develop about 10 times faster than in adults. So, you can take advantage of all the achievements of modern dentistry - to treat milk teeth, and during long manipulations, such as root canal filling in case of pulpitis, to perform sedation (to put a young patient into a medication sleep), but, you see, it is better to avoid all this.
In addition, one of the tasks of parents is to instill in their children the correct oral care habits, i.e. to teach them to brush their teeth thoroughly and not to neglect this procedure. Preventive measures in our clinic will only help in this.
The basis of proper dental prevention for children is regular visits to the children's dentist
Professional dental cleaning for the prevention of caries in children
Plaque forms on both milk and permanent teeth. It is not always possible to remove it at home, and when it hardens (turns into tartar), it is impossible to do so at home at all. Therefore, hygienic teeth cleaning in children is an important procedure that prevents caries and gum disease.
How often do children need such procedures? Usually, professional teeth cleaning is recommended for children every 6 months. Teenagers with braces may need such care more often. The need for professional hygiene is indirectly confirmed by the appearance of bad breath, greyish or yellow plaque on the enamel.
Usually, professional care is limited to hygienic brushing of children's teeth with special toothpastes. Ultrasound and other methods used for adults can only be used on adolescents if there are appropriate indications.
Deep fluoridation
Weak enamel in children's teeth can be strengthened by applying special compositions with fluoride and calcium. This is a good preventive method and one of the ways to treat caries in milk teeth at the spot stage. Outwardly, the tooth unit does not change in any way, but deep fluoridation makes the enamel stronger.
Remineralization can be performed for both children and adults at intervals of up to 2 times a year.
Fissure sealing
The first permanent chewing teeth (so-called "sixes") usually appear in children at 5-6 years of age. There will be no replacement for them, but their enamel is also often not strong enough. As a result, caries can develop on the chewing surfaces by the time eruption is complete. Bacteria are most often concentrated in natural fissures.
To protect fragile permanent teeth, we use the so-called "sealing" procedure with special sealants in Kyiv. Fissure sealing does not require drilling, like filling, but effectively prevents the development of caries, because food particles do not get into the grooves and bacteria do not grow.
