Is it always necessary to remove wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth, aka third molars, are considered unnecessary in many European countries. That is, they have completely lost their primary function in the course of evolution - their direct involvement in chewing. But it is customary to get rid of these teeth only if there are the right indications.
For example, if the third molars have erupted normally, are in exactly the right place, do not interfere with neighbouring teeth, and are properly hygienised to protect them from various dental problems, they can be preserved. When should wisdom teeth be removed?
The different types of wisdom teeth (fully grown, not erupted (retinitis) and/or closed by the "hood") have their own indications for removal.
