Hygiene of veneers, implants
Some people think that if they have a dental implant, veneer or crown, it is not necessary to clean it. They will last the rest of their lives, they say. In reality, this is not the case. The gum next to them collects plaque. In the case of veneers, the inside of the tooth is also not protected from deposits and decay. This requires both good home care and professional hygiene of implants, crowns and veneers every six months (or even more often).

Professional hygiene of implants
The artificial titanium root (implant) is not affected by decay and is stronger than natural teeth. But the gum next to it is not protected from plaque and is prone to inflammation. Accordingly, if implant hygiene is not observed, there is a risk of peri-implantitis and premature loss of the artificial root. To prevent this from happening, we at DENTART offer professional hygiene after dental implants.
To remove plaque, special nozzles and a soft powder are used, which has no adverse effect on the crowns attached to the implant. Professional hygiene of implants can also include the use of an air-abrasive cleaning method with special compounds that will not damage the ceramic surface of the dentures.
In addition to professional hygiene, our experts will select care products and products for cleaning your teeth at home.
Professional hygiene after installation of veneers
If veneers are placed on the teeth, they are only partially covered from negative influences (on the front side and the incisal edge). Plaque will build up just as vigorously on the inside and in the gum area as it does on the rest of the teeth. Accordingly, both home care and professional hygiene after fitting veneers are necessary. The frequency of the latter is usually once every 6 months. But if you treat your veneers too carefully at home, plaque can build up more quickly.
Professional hygiene after applying veneers involves gentle ultrasound applications (using soft pads) and the use of special powders that will not damage the surface of the ceramic onlays. When you come to see us, all you need to do is remind the doctor about your veneers and our specialist will then choose the best methods of professional hygiene.
How do I take care of your teeth at home after an implant or veneer placement?
The basic rules of oral hygiene remain unchanged after implants and/or veneers are placed. If you have the latter, it is often advisable to switch to soft-bristle brushes and toothpastes without abrasive particles. They can cause micro-damage to the surface of veneers.
The basic recommendations for home oral hygiene include the following:
- brushing should be done twice a day (in the morning and before going to bed);
- the optimal cleaning movements are from top to bottom for the upper jaw and from bottom to top for the lower, which is designed to reduce the amount of plaque in the gum area;
- the use of special brushes and floss to remove plaque from the interdental space is also recommended.
Our dentists at DENTART will give you more specific advice on the selection of products and home care products.
