Why is professional dental cleaning performed?

Professional cleaning with our dentist will provide you with the following:

How often should my teeth be cleaned by our dentists?

If the teeth are properly cared for at home, it is recommended that adults have their teeth professionally cleaned every six months. If you smoke, drink coffee several times a day, or do not take good care of your teeth, more frequent visits to our dentists (every three months) are necessary. The same frequency is recommended for those who wear braces for bite correction.

After removal of inflammation of periodontal tissues (periodontitis, periodontitis), it is also recommended every three months to undergo a maintenance hygiene treatment, which includes air-abrasion polishing of the root surfaces of teeth.

Ultrasonic removal of deposits

Dense deposits on and/or between the teeth eventually lead to cavities, gum disease, and periodontitis. An ultrasonic cleaning procedure can help avoid these problems.

DENTART specialists use an ultrasonic scaler, which cleans each tooth by ultrasonic vibrations: without pain or risk of damage. This method has become the best alternative to the previously popular methods of mechanical cleaning or chemical treatment.

AIR FLOW cleaning

The Air Flow system is another one of our methods of removing dental plaque. A jet of aerosol containing water and a special powder is sprayed onto the teeth through a special hand-piece with strong air flow (Flow). The specific purpose determines the type. Our hygienists use the following formulations for the Air Flow treatment:

abrasive powder to remove cigarette and coffee stains;
polishing powder to remove soft dental plaque in small quantities;
fine powder - recommended for effective professional hygiene of sensitive teeth;
a separate formula for cleaning the teeth of patients with periodontitis or periodontal disease.

Besides high quality cleaning, Air Flow technology also has a whitening (bleaching) effect.

Tooth polishing

Enamel polishing is another part of the specialist's care of the mouth and teeth. If its surface is smooth, it reduces the possibility of cavities, and the intensity of plaque formation is significantly reduced. Our dentists in Kyiv use patented pastes for polishing. They provide smoothness, while eliminating the possibility of damage to the teeth. Polishing products are individually selected to suit the needs of the individual patient.

As a bonus, you can choose from different paste flavours, including mint, chocolate or fresh fruits.

Fluoridation and remineralization

The last step of the complex cleaning is strengthening the enamel and normalisation of its mineral content. Fluoridation and remineralisation are used for this purpose, respectively.

In fluoridation procedures, fluoride applies to the teeth to improve their protective coating. For remineralisation, we apply a special mineral compound to increase resistance to the harmful effects of the acidic environment. Both treatments are painless and comfortable. They provide additional protection against caries and help fight tooth sensitivity.
