One-stage implantation (immediately after tooth extraction)
A one-stage (aka immediate or instant) dental implant is a dental procedure where the implant is placed immediately after the tooth is extracted. In fact, two complicated procedures are performed in one go, so you don't have to wait for the desired result. This is the main difference between a one-stage implantation and a classic implantation, where a tooth is extracted first and the implant (artificial root) is placed a few months later, during which time the bone tissue recovers.
Our DENTART Clinic employs experienced implant surgeons who can remove teeth of any complexity, use an anti-stress approach with sleep treatment, and carry out all types of implants, including classic and immediate implants. And you get a healthy and beautiful smile in the shortest possible time, and with maximum comfort and complete safety assurance.

A Tooth in One Day — Is It Really Possible?
Is one-stage implantation suitable for you?
The answer to whether a tooth can be extracted and an artificial root implanted immediately can only be given by our surgeon during an examination. A three-dimensional examination is mandatory to determine the method of implantation. The implantologist will also need an additional consultation with an orthopaedist.
Our experts, relying on a wealth of experience and research, emphasise a few basic conditions when one-stage implantation is acceptable and can be successful. These include the following:
- the tooth is removed atraumatically, which means there are no problems or complications during the procedure. As a result, the chances of an immediate post-implant integration are maximised;
- the tooth removed not due to the presence of an infectious lesion. Inflammation easily spreads to neighbouring tissues. This increases the risk that the procedure will be unsuccessful - the implant will not fit;
- after removal, a hole is formed with dimensions suitable for an artificial root. This will allow it to be securely fixed;
- the bone tissue is dense, and its total amount is sufficient for instant implantation. This is the key to the primary stability of the implant to be placed;
- the presence of a gingival biotype suitable for instant implantation. It is also called "thick", meaning that the overall thickness of the gum allows the procedure to be performed. Your biotype will be determined by our specialists during your appointment;
- no gum disease. Periodontic problems of any kind increase the likelihood of rejection of the artificial root. In case of gum disease, a periodontist will work with you before implantation.
The first thing you need to do is make an appointment with our specialist. You can do this over the phone or online. You will then be given a suitable method of implantation.
Stages of implantation performed immediately after tooth extraction
When a crown is "put on" for an implant?
One-stage implantation is performed using one of two techniques:
- "with an immediate load" In this case, a temporary crown is placed immediately after the implant is placed, which means that you leave our clinic with a new tooth. But in the future, the temporary crown must be replaced with a permanent one;
- implantation "with a delayed load". A permanent crown is placed after the implant has been integrated. So an artificial tooth is waiting for you later.
-
One stage instead of twoTooth restoration is often possible in a single visit.
-
A single surgical interventionTooth extraction and implant placement are performed in the same procedure.
-
Fast aesthetic solutionImmediate implantation doesn’t leave the patient without a tooth—even for a day.
-
Requires ideal conditionsHealthy gums, atraumatic extraction, and sufficient bone volume are necessary for this approach.
-
Two stagesClassical implantation involves at least two main stages and more clinic visits.
-
Multiple proceduresThe two-stage approach may include several interventions, including bone grafting (osteoplasty).
-
Timeline: 3–6 monthsFunctional loading (crown placement) typically occurs 3–6 months after implant placement.
-
More universal methodSuitable for most patients and has fewer specific prerequisites.
Who performs one-stage implants?
The main doctor in this case is an implantologist surgeon. In addition, the necessary preparatory work before the implantation is carried out by related specialists at our clinic:
- therapists. They will perform preliminary treatment of canals and/or caries for you;
- orthodontists. Their consultation is mandatory before a delayed implantation, as it is only possible with a correct bite. And with a one-stage procedure, you can sometimes get by without it;
- orthopedists. They restore aesthetics, i.e. they make ceramic crowns that are indistinguishable from real teeth, neither for you nor for others;
- hygienists. They will carry out preliminary oral preparation for the implant procedure and advise on proper hygiene afterwards.
What implants are used in DENTART?
Healing Time for an Immediate Implant
Advantages of Immediate (Single-Visit) Implantation
- 1. Time-saving with fewer visits. Tooth restoration can often be completed in a single day (extraction plus placement of a temporary crown).
- 2. Instant aesthetic results. The patient isn’t left without a tooth after extraction—crucial for the smile zone and especially important for public-facing professionals.
- 3. Economic benefits. Extracting a tooth and placing the implant in one session typically costs less than two separate procedures. Likewise, immediate loading with a temporary crown can eliminate the need for a healing abutment (gum former), reducing costs further.
- 4. Preservation of bone and gingival health. Immediate loading helps prevent bone resorption and protects the gingival vasculature.
- 5. Less discomfort and anxiety. Combining several surgical steps into one reduces overall trauma, swelling, soreness, and other unpleasant sensations—while helping patients overcome treatment-related fears.
Why is it worth having an implant at DENTART?
You should choose our services for the following reasons:
- we use advanced dental technologies and comply with international standards of treatment;
- you are looked after by the best team of dentists in Kyiv, with all the specialists you may need for implants always in place and ready to take care of any problems that may arise;
- we guarantee a quality diagnostic procedure to ensure that the implantation does not go as expected;
- we use local anaesthesia to perform the implantation, but if you are worried about your comfort, we can add sedation, which provides immediate relaxation and stress relief. In this case, the implantation procedure will be carried out while you are asleep. You will wake up when the implant operation is completed.
-
When is immediate implantation not an option?
There are specific contraindications for same-day tooth replacement. Typically, this method isn’t used if the patient has gum disease or if the tooth is being extracted due to infection. Immediate placement is also avoided when the gingival biotype is unsuitable (as determined by the doctor), the extraction is traumatic, and/or the post-extraction socket does not allow secure fixation of the titanium implant.
-
Where can I get immediate dental implants in Kyiv?
We recommend our DENTART clinics. In Kyiv, we operate three dental centers so you can choose the most convenient location. You’ll receive attentive care from qualified, experienced staff—including some of the city’s leading implant surgeons—along with high-quality diagnostics and implants from respected manufacturers such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare.
-
Which is better: immediate or conventional implantation?
It depends on your clinical situation and needs. The decision is made by the implant surgeon—after a CT scan. If speed is critical and all prerequisites for immediate implantation are met, this protocol is preferable because it allows extraction, implant placement, and a temporary crown in a single day. If reliability is the priority and/or there are contraindications (e.g., gingivitis), the conventional two-stage approach is the better choice.
-
Does immediate implantation preserve bone?
Yes. Because the titanium dental post is placed directly into the socket immediately after extraction, immediate implantation helps prevent jawbone atrophy and maintains the natural gingival contour.
-
What is the success rate of immediate implants?
At DENTART, same-day protocols achieve 95–98% success. The risk of failure is only slightly higher than with the classic approach. This performance is driven by meticulous preparation and planning, top-tier implant systems, and precise execution of both extraction and implant placement. Patient adherence to post-op instructions is also crucial for success.
-
Is immediate implantation reliable?
At DENTART, it’s a reliable protocol with high success rates—used only when clinically justified. If our implant surgeon believes the risk of failure is significant, we will not recommend immediate placement and will offer safer alternatives.
-
How long does the immediate implantation procedure take?
Typically 30–60 minutes per implant for extraction and placement of the titanium dental post.
-
What’s included in the price of immediate implantation?
Pricing covers pre-treatment assessment and diagnostics (including CT), the selected implant system, the tooth extraction and implant placement, and—when indicated—immediate loading with a temporary crown. All cost details will be provided at your initial consultation at DENTART.
